Missed Communications: Skills for Cross-Functional Teams

Misunderstanding, lost productivity, and errors are a few of the costly issues that can arise in your company from a breakdown in communication. It can also lead to frustrated employees, low morale and missed opportunities for collaboration and innovation.

Sparked by conversations at the Tech Manitoba Idea Lab, we are partnering with internationally renowned applied improvisation trainer Stephen Sim to bring you Missed Communications. This 3-part online series is designed to help teams cut through jargon, go beyond language and refine the skills needed to deliver communication that resonates.

Applied Improvisation is an instructional strategy that adapts the concepts of improvisational theatre to teach interpersonal communication, collaboration and flexibility in a changing environment. Improv is about passing detailed information quickly and effectively in real-time. The skills that make for an entertaining performance and beautiful new music are also essential for any effective communication between people.

Presented by Stephen Sim

Stephen Sim is an internationally renowned improvisation theatre performer, director and trainer who has been working in the industry for over two decades. He has headlined international festivals and leads improv master classes all over the world. He is the host if many events, including TEDxWinnipeg, where he also works with the speakers to create and hone their talks. Stephen has translated his years of improvisation theatre experience to focus on effective communication and group collaboration.

This live online training will be hosted on Zoom which can be used (for free) in-browser as well as through their downloadable app. You will be sent a link to join the training through Zoom, prior to the event, but you must register in advance to receive the link.
