We are seeking a Technical Assistant to work in the Project Services Department. Under the supervision of the Project Collaboration Supervisor, you will perform moderately complex assigned work within the Project Management Division. Participate in the preparation of project documentation and assist in the review of drawing and technical documents. Provide assistance to the Project Management Division to implement and maintain project collaboration systems and document management strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance, instruction, and review of drafting practices/standards for drawings and craft of consultants and contractors.
- Provide guidance to consultants on the proper use of the System Classification Index numbering system.
- Assist with customizing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining future and existing project collaboration software systems such as SharePoint and Aconex.
- Contribute to the assessment of the quality of service/products from external suppliers.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of Manitoba Hydro practices related to drawing and document management.
- Prepare and compile data for project documentation as required.
- Regularly interact with customers by responding to their articulated needs regarding drafting standards, practices, and document management.
- Review methods and processes utilized in the division and investigate new or unconventional analytical techniques to recommend creative modifications to improve customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with technical staff to ensure revisions to drawings are captured accurately and communicated to stakeholders. Ensure all drawings generated by external consultants/contractors comply with Manitoba Hydro drawing requirements, revising when necessary.
- Prepare AutoCAD drawings for internal use as required by the division.
- Document errors found on drawings and submissions for external to department and consultants/contractors feedback.
- Prepare and complete drawing and technical document registration.
- Will be required to perform filing and retrieval of documents for the division.
Qualifications:
- A two-year Technology Diploma from an institute of recognized standing, plus a minimum of two years of directly related experience.
OR
- Grade 12 and a one-year certificate in a related discipline with technical courses at the Technologist level in the fields of Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical or Drafting/CAD from an institute of recognized standing, plus a minimum of three years of directly related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with internal/external contacts/consultants, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to understand project collaboration systems and document management strategies and best practices as well as the ability to learn and apply new technologies and tools quickly.
- Demonstrated experience with Oracle Aconex and Microsoft 365.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personal Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal effectively with simultaneous tasks.
- Possesses and maintain a valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $31.94-$44.18 Hourly, $61,202.96-$84,652.88 Annually.
